Leader Training
Training is perhaps the most important resource provided by the BSA to its leaders.
- Fast Start - a brief training taken on the BSA Online Learning Center
(provided by the BSA National Council)
- Leadership Essentials - a 1.5 hour course covering the basics of Cub Scouting. Participants recieve the Leader Book.
- Cub Leader Specific - a 3 hour course targeted at a specific position, e.g., Cub Master, Wolf/Bear Den Leader, etc.
- Youth Protection - a 1.5 hour course, available in a class setting or on the
BSA Online Learning Center

Additional Training
Training opportunities are presented regularly, some right at Saint George Church. Some of the typical offerings:
- District Round Table meetings - programming assistance for leaders, normally held the first
Monday of each month at 7:30 PM. The Quinsigamond District Round Table Meetings are held at First Congregation Church.
- BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) - an 8 hour course offered about two times each year at Treasure Valley, the Mohegan Council's Scouting reservation.
- OWL (Overnight Webelos Leader)- a 12 hour course also offered at Treasure Valley.
- Safety Afloat - sometimes offered locally, also available
online.
- Safe Swim Defense - sometimes offered locally, also available
online.
- Climb On Safely - basic training required of adult leaders to organize a climbing and
rappelling activity for their unit.
Note: Some of these additional offerings are required for particular activities.
